The David Mahungu Leadership Foundation (DMLF) plays a crucial role in harnessing the potential of Kenya’s youth, particularly those from marginalized communities such as semi-nomadic pastoral areas, urban slums, and disadvantaged backgrounds. Each year, we select a small cohort who have shown the potential for leadership despite significant adversity. We aim to cultivate self-aware and confident leaders who can influence change from local to international levels.
Our approach involves providing both formal education and practical leadership skills development. By providing access to education and leadership training, we enhance the capabilities of these young leaders and benefit the communities they represent. This education and training facilitate vital opportunities for dialogue, sharing innovative solutions, and fostering resilience, empowering them to drive transformative change within their communities.
DMLF is dedicated to creating spaces for these young leaders to connect, share, and grow. Through partnerships with key players in the youth leadership ecosystem, we equip them to become effective problem solvers and influential voices in policy development. Our work ensures that the perspectives and challenges of their communities are heard and addressed, paving the way for sustainable impact and transformative change.
